Kiwi - That other Flightless Bird

A postcrossing member from China read that I like kiwi birds. Her cousin had recently returned from a visit to New Zealand and brought her this card, which she kindly sent to me.  How very sweet of her.

She recommended the book The Moon and Sixpence by W. Somerset Maugham.

Penguins in the Ukraine

This is a great card.  It came to me from the Ukraine.  Now I am left to ponder what is the tie between penguins and that country.  First, wild penguins are one found in the southern hemisphere.  There is a Unkrainian, Alexei Ponikarovsky, who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team.  Author  Andrey Kurkov wrote a book called Death and the Penguin after reading a story about the Kiev Zoo. Whatever the connection, this is a great card.
