Post Card Friendship Friday - Thoughts of the Pacific

As did many others, I awoke to the news of a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan.  I have had the news on all morning

My heart goes out to all who have been affected.

My sister Nancy, the other contributor to this blog, sent me this post card from O'ahu when she visited there in 2002.  I believe this might have been on her way back home after working in Japan for a year.

Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

  1. Thank you so much for joining us for PFF--your postcard is poignantly lovely, in light of what has happened in Japan and Hawaii.

Thank you for your contribution--I really like your blog--I'll look forward to seeing you again next Friday!

  2. Nice to dwell on a wave for surfing on rather than one about to wipe away communities.

  5. Such a beautiful picture and yet it can cause such devastation. I believe that it hasn't been quite as bad as once feared on the US side of the ocean, but Japan has had a terrible time.

  7. I am the sister Nancy who worked in Tokyo for two years. The news made me cry for all the people in Japan and especially for all my lovely students. I felt earthquakes when i lived there not that bad but were scarry enough. I always feared one would happen, i had contingency plans with friends and students to meet if it ever happened. I am so glad that the people of Japan have plans in place for this because i am sure it saves many lives. The Japanese are such lovely people. My hearst go out to all over there. Wish i could help more than just watch from my living room.

  8. Lovely blog. I hope you are back next week. I do not know anyone in Japan personally - it must be heart rending if you do.
