Post Card Friendship Friday - Animal World

One of the other participants has been educating us with his animal postcards.  I have enjoyed them so much that I have decided to feature cards from the animal world for the next few weeks.

On the back, this one says "The Australian Kangaroo with Koala inset."

I received this when I did a quilt block exchange with a quilter in Sydney, Australia.  No stamps.

The website Koala Express has a page of interesting facts about Kangaroos.

Post Card Friendship Friday - Happy Father's Day

This was hard, trying to find a postcard for Father's Day.  I wanted something masculine.  Johnny Canuck finally leaped out of my postcard box.  He told me he was tired of living there in the dark and that he wanted to go live somewhere else.  He wanted to go live with a dad.

Who is Johnny Canuck?  According to Wikipedia:
Johnny Canuck was a Canadian cartoon hero and superhero who was created as a political cartoon in 1869 and was later re-invented, most notably as a Second World War action hero in 1942. The Vancouver Canucks, a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL), currently use a lumberjack rendition of Johnny Canuck as one of their team logos.

The stamp on the reverse of the postcard is an image of the front.  This is a real stamp, not just printed on the card.

One commenter on this post will win this card.  Please note that I will only mail this card to a father.  If the winner is not a father, I would ask that he or she send me the name and address of a father that they would like to receive the card.  Open internationally.  I will mail this card once the postal strike is over.  Contest closes next friday.

Las Vegas

I received this postcard in the mail on a non strike day. It is from my favourite math teacher (Mr. Sernasie) from high school. He loves gambling and said this is from his favourite place. If you look at the cars they are antiques so must the postcard be lol. What a nice surprise. We had such wonderful teachers at our school (Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharines, named after the women who warned the British the Americans were coming in the war of 1812. She saved the war for us that is, not the Americans reading this lol. She now has a very yummy chocolate shop named after her. Laura Secord)

Post Card Friendship Friday - Hobbies

The postal strike is still moving around the country.  Today they have selected my area for their rotating strike.  Great day to take some time and write out a few cards.  The posties will be good an relaxed by Monday when they go back on the job here and can pick up the card then.

This one is going to my best friend's mom.  My friend passed away 3 years ago, though I stay in touch with her family.  I've known then since grade school and they are like family.

Her mother used to be a wonderful knitter and seamstress.  Unfortunately Parkinson's Disease has gotten in the way of those pastimes.  I hope that she will enjoy this card.

Post Card Friendship Friday - Hello from the other Down Under

View of the Westhaven Marina and Auckland City, New Zealand.

I received this card on Thursday from my dear niece.  It was about this time last year that we were anxiously awaiting her arrival.  We were fortunate that she decided to come and stay with us for over six months.  What a pleasure to have her here with us.  Now she is back in New Zealand to continue her schooling.  She lives in the Auckland area is sees this view everyday. Lucky girl.

Canada Post has now gone on strike and will be holding rotating stikes for the next while.  Today we received some post, but who knows what next week will bring.  Are the postal workers in your country allowed to strike?  Leave me a comment and let me know.
